Brexit: UK falling back in global automation race – robot sales down 3%

European Union´s industrial robot sales up 12%

Frankfurt, May 16, 2019 — Installations of industrial robots in the United Kingdom fell by 3 percent to 2,306 units in 2018. In the previous year, robot sales in the UK had risen by 31 percent. The European Union´s recent sales numbers are still positive - up 12 percent. This is according to the preliminary results of the World Robotics Report 2019.

IFR appoints Dr. Susanne Bieller as new General Secretary

Frankfurt, Apr 30, 2019 — The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) appoints Dr. Susanne Bieller as new General Secretary. The 41-year-old will take office on 1 May 2019 from Gudrun Litzenberger, who is retiring. At the same time, Litzenberger will hand over the management of the IFR Statistical Department to Dr. Christopher Müller.

Chicago, Apr 10, 2019 — The preliminary statistics of the World Robotics Report shows that a new record high of 384,000 units were shipped globally in 2018 – an increase of one percent compared to the previous year. This means that the annual sales volume of industrial robots increased for the sixth time in a row (2013-2018) – but only just.
