On April 24, 2026, a delegation led by Dr. Susanne Bieller, General Secretary of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), Mr. Patrick Schwarzkopf, Head of Robotics and Automation at the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), and Ms. Anja Schneider, Automatica Exhibition Director at Messe München, visited Guangzhou to conduct in-depth research into the robotics industry development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Risong Technology fully coordinated the overall research activities. Sun Zhiqiang, Chairman of Risong Technology, along with the company’s management team, warmly received the IFR delegation and thoughtfully organized a company tour and a robotics industry symposium. At the request of the IFR, Risong Technology also facilitated the delegation’s meeting with senior officials from the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province.

Site Visits: From Risong Technology to XPeng Inc. – High-End Precision Manufacturing Strengths Widely Recognized

In the morning, the IFR delegation first visited Risong Technology Park, touring the company’s Robotics R&D Engineering Center and AI Machine Vision Exhibition Hall.

At the high-end precision manufacturing equipment exhibition area, Risong Technology showcased its proprietary PLR, a high-precision, high-speed six-axis robot, to the IFR delegation.

Rather than aiming to replace established foreign brands, the product is strategically positioned to address ultra-precision manual manufacturing work that humans cannot do, cannot do well, or cannot do cost-effectively. It leverages intelligent manufacturing equipment to boost product yield, cut operational costs and ease labor supply pressures.

Across sectors such as optical communication, 3C electronics and semiconductors, a wide range of ultra-fine processes — optical fiber assembly, FPC flexible circuit insertion and micro-component soldering — have long depended on skilled workers operating under microscopes. The industry has been plagued by unstable yield rates, low productivity and other bottlenecks restricting high-quality development.

Risong Technology has successfully established a fully independent R&D system and in-house manufacturing capability, achieving end-to-end technological mastery covering from core algorithms, embedded controllers to precision mechanical structures.

The Risong Technology PLR robot achieves a repeat positioning accuracy of 0.3 μm and deeply integrates AI machine vision inspection and force control technology, delivering precision and speed that surpass human capabilities. During the visit, the IFR delegation observed on-site operational demonstrations of the robot in key scenarios, including optical fiber assembly and FPC flexible cable insertion for display panel production. Dr. Susanne Bieller, IFR General Secretary, commented: “High-end precision manufacturing is a core benchmark of a nation’s robotics industry strength. Rooted in real industrial pain points, Risong Technology deploys advanced technologies to overcome the limitations of manual operation. This innovative mindset is truly impressive.”

The company also showcased its core proprietary offerings, including the Risong Intelligent Digital Platform (RIDP), the flexible servo
positioning system (RMC), along with customized smart manufacturing solutions for automotive, heavy machinery and other key industries. The
IFR delegation commended Risong Technology for its strong capability to integrate robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision and smart manufacturing technologies.

Later that day, accompanied by Chairman Sun Zhiqiang, the IFR delegation visited XPeng Inc. for a tour and exchange.

XPeng Inc. is a long-standing partner of Risong Technology. As an innovative representative in the new energy vehicle sector, XPeng is not only an automotive manufacturer with one of the most extensive robotics applications in the industry but also an emerging player actively deploying robotics.

Accompanied by Hu Yining, Vice President of XPeng Inc., the IFR delegation inspected robotic applications across production lines covering body welding, final assembly and battery pack manufacturing. The team closely examined XPeng’s self-developed AI humanoid robot, toured the exhibition halls of XPeng Motors and XPeng Aeroht, and concluded the visit with a concise exchange session.

In-depth Symposium: Discussing Industry Pain Points and Promoting International Standard Alignment

In the afternoon, a robotics industry symposium was held at Risong Technology Park with attendees including the IFR delegation and representatives from Risong Technology, Flexiv Robotics, Guangzhou CNC Equipment (GSK), Huayan Robotics, and the Guangdong Robotics Association (GRA).

Chairman Sun Zhiqiang accompanies the IFR delegation during a symposium with Hu Yining, Vice President of XPeng Inc., and the company’s management team.

During the meeting, representatives from participating enterprises and industry associations shared latest progress in core robotic components, adaptive robotics, industrial application deployment and industrial ecosystem development.

Looking Ahead: Driving the Global Growth of China’s Robotics Industry

The International Federation of Robotics (IFR), founded in 1987 and based in Frankfurt, Germany, is one of the most authoritative international organizations in the robotics field. Its core database covers more than 90% of the global industrial robot market data.

This high-level IFR delegation’s visit fully acknowledges the strengths of Risong Technology and the Greater Bay Area’s robotics industry. It also creates new opportunities for Chinese robotics enterprises to engage in global standard-setting and expand international cooperation.
