To commemorate SIRI’s 50th anniversary and preserve the legacy of Italian robotics, the Association initiated the publication of a dedicated book.
Italy’s central role in the history of robotics is underscored by the early founding of SIRI in 1975—initially as the Italian Society of Industrial Robotics and later as the Italian Association of Robotics and Automation. SIRI is the second-oldest robotics association in the world, preceded only by Japan’s JARA, and predates the International Federation of Robotics by 12 years. Notably, SIRI’s president at that time, Daniele Fabrizi, became the first president of the IFR in 1987.
To commemorate SIRI’s 50th anniversary and preserve the legacy of Italian robotics, the Association initiated the publication of a dedicated book. Spearheaded by the President and several Council members, the project was seen as the most fitting tribute to this milestone. “Recovering historical documents and integrating diverse perspectives was a challenge,” noted Appendino, “but the result is a five-chapter volume that not only traces SIRI’s journey but also highlights Italy’s pioneering contributions to robotics even before the Association’s founding.”
The book contains Italian and English language in parallel. Click on the image below for sales information.
