The “2013 IFR Research Lectures” were organized by KIRIA (Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement), KITECH (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology) and CNU-RRI (Chonnam National University-Robot Research Initiative). 14 young researchers from 5 different countries participated in this year’s IFR Research Lectures.

Main topic of the 2013 IFR Research Lectures was “Robotics meets IT - Ubiquitous” and the program was composed of 14 academic lectures, 3 Laboratory tours, 4 Company tours and 2 World Heritage Culture tours.

Starting from October 28 to November 4, “2013 IFR Research Lecture” was organized by KIRIA (Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement), KITECH (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology) and CNU-RRI (Chonnam National University-Robot Research Initiative). 14 young researchers from 5 different countries participated in this year’s IFR Research Lecture which was held in KITECH, Ansan, Korea.

Main topic of the 2013 IFR Research Lecture was “Robotics meets IT - Ubiquitous” and the program was composed of 14 academic lectures, 3 Laboratory tours, 4 Company tours and 2 World Heritage Culture tours. There were excursions to Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Yujin Robot. The young researchers were very active and enthusiastic with the whole events. One participant mentioned that “Especially, visiting Severance Yonsei daVinci Training Center was the most impressive event among laboratory tours, because I could actually demonstrate the robot system after the Professor’s presentation.” Most participants said “Very good combination of lectures and lab, company tours.” also, “All lectures were appropriate related to robotics field and very informative because I am currently working on the same research topic.”

Over all, “2013 IFR Research Lecture” was very successful and again there is no doubt that the IFR will continue to organize next year’s Research Lecture program. Prof.Dr.-Ing. Jong-Oh Park, Director of Robot Research Initiative, said that “It was great opportunity to promote networking among young researchers from all over the world. I expect further improvement of IFR Research Lecture in the future.”
