Human-machine-collaboration, more ease of use and assembly will provide a huge potential for robot installations in the coming years. This became apparent in the discussion of the robot users Dr. Chia Day, Foxconn, and Dr. Stefan-Markus Baginski, BMW, among five CEO robot suppliers at the AUTOMATICA in Munich on 4 June 2014. The interest of press and media was very strong in the discussion also regarding the tremendous increase of robot installations in the past years to new record levels.
The great interest in robotics was also unveiled by the increased number of visitor and exhibitors at the AUTOMATICA. 34,500 visitors from more than 100 countries visited the exhibition of 731 exhibitors from 42 countries.
We are now looking forward to the China International Robot Show (CIROS) in Shanghai (9-11 July 2014). China is by far the biggest robot market in the world regarding annual sales and it is also the fasted growing market worldwide. For the first time ever, the sales figures of Chinese robot suppliers are included in the IFR statistics survey of 2013. This is the result of the fruitful cooperation of IFR and its new member association CRIA (China Robot Industry Alliance).
The day before the CIROS will start we will attend the joint IFR-CRIA CEO Round Table. Chinese and international robot suppliers will discuss on the topic: “How to deepen cooperation between Chinese and foreign robot companies to promote the market”.
Afterwards the finalists of the IEEE/IFR Invention and Entrepreneurship Award (IERA) will present their applications and the winner will be announced. The purpose of this award is to highlight and honor the achievements of the inventors with value creating ideas and entrepreneurs who propel those ideas into world-class products.
